Opening the alms

Bergdorf is quiet when you arrive: the alms above the village have been left to grow over, and the ways up are blocked by brambles, rockfalls and a cable car that hasn't run in years. Each one is a project on the notice board in the tourist station, where Vreni keeps track.

A project asks for money, goods and sometimes a skill level. Goods can be handed in a few at a time, so you can see it coming along long before it opens. When it's done, the village gathers, and often a new shop opens.
